The multi award winning Trunki that we have come to know and love, but now in limited edition Friesian cow print. Only available during 2008 “Frieda” has the same premium features as the “Towgo” Trunki, with locking catches, secret compartments and a carry handle. A Trunki makes travelling fun for your child and yourself.
Review
My three year olds first reaction when presented with Frieda says it all “Wow, moo moo”. He then proceeded to scoot around the house shouting “MOO MOO” at the top of his lungs for about half an hour, before discovering that he could open her up. He then put his Teddy, a couple of books and his entire collection of toy cars inside and announces, “I’m ready to go to Grannys!” I find it amazing that he knew exactly what the Trunki was for.
The Trunki is basically a case on wheels that you are able to tow your kid around on via the lead that also doubles as a shoulder strap. The strap can also be removed completely so that your child can scoot around on it as a free wheeling ride on.
The Frieda model comes with a carry handle, locking catches and Teddy Bear straps (clothes straps to a grown up), which the basic models do not come with. As well as the funky black and white cow print it also has a green interior, I assume to represent grass.
The Trunki is great if you are going out to visit friends and family. You can pack it with a change of clothes, your child’s favourite toys, and when you get there it doubles as a ride on toy to keep them entertained. However, where it really comes in to its own is when you are travelling by air.
The Trunki has been designed to be the perfect size to take on a plane as hand luggage. When we took our son to France, we stacked the Trunki with all of the stuff that we would need for him while on the flight (Portable DVD player is a must). Except when going through security, my son sat quite happily on his Trunki from the car park of Terminal 5 through to the gate. The novelty of being pulled along at speed behind dad on a cow print Trunki put a great big grin on my son’s face. My son’s “MOO MOOs” and the vision of a little boy being pulled along on a cow print case with horns did attract a lot of smiles and comments from the other travellers. There were more than a few from other parents on what a good idea it was, and “where did you get that?”, and a couple of older passengers commented on how they wished they had someone pulling them along too! Needless to say this made my son’s grin even bigger.
It has to be said I was dreading the airport, but having the Trunki in tow made the whole thing a lot more pleasant and enjoyable for all involved.
I do have one point of caution, watch your heels! If you are on the tall side, as I am, the strap is just the right length for you to clip the front of the Trunki with your heel, although not particularly painful, you will turn your kid over onto the floor. I found it easier to try to pull it along out to one side.
All in all, for anyone travelling with a small child I would say that this is a must have buy. Admittedly the cow print colour scheme may not be to all tastes, but you are able to get the Trunki in three other colours; Green “Towgo”, Pink “Trixie” and Blue “Terrance”.
5 out of 5 what more can we say!
