Right both me and my wife are on jsa and she has gone to the job center and asked about maternity allowance but are saying that she can have it but my money will drop because of her being on maternity allowance. so how are me my wife and my soon to be born child supposed to live on £200 a fortnight it just aint gonna happen

Agree completely.
The reality seems to be that great play is made about these benefits but in practice if you are working you are either not entitles it seems, depending on what you earn, or your income hit. Rather like paternity leave. Most guys I know, me included, had to take the time as paid holiday because the pat leave pay was just not enough.
