Changing nappies 4 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

read the article on changing nappies, which was great, but really cant get on with the cotton wool thing, doesnt really shift this black sticky stuff. Are wipes better, from what I understand they are not recomended. any advice welcome

plenty of warm water, cotton wool and lots of elbow grease. don't use baby wipes as they are useless. the marconium will be gone by day 3 anyway and then you'll have lots of lovely explosive yellow ochre poos for 6 months (or until the little person goes onto solids).

good luck and be patient.

Cheers, just the news I was looking for.

its now on the turn, consistency of cottage cheese. I am not keen on the whole nappy changing thing, just seems to go from bad to worse, i just dont think guys are cut out for this sort of thing

but being the modern guy that I am willing to lend a hand, dont think my Mrs would have it any other way anyway

nah worries. always a pleasure.

we've had our little fella in cotton nappies for almost 8 months now. you know, trying to save the planet and all that. i must admit, it has been a piece of cake (or poo). he stays in them for 2 hours at a time, if soiled then whipped out of dirty one straight away. touch wood, he's had no nappy rash at all in the whole time.

overnight in compostable, disposable nappy. in it for 12 hours at a time. has leaked 1 or twice in the last 2 months but nothing a bedding change and an imprompt bath couldn't handle. we've not used any chemicals on him. just plain water.

my missus looks after the input and i do the output. wouldn't have it any other way. i've really enjoyed being involved. a very rewarding experience. you get to have good quality time with them too.

lets face it nappies are never going to be a goodthing, I guess you just get used to doing them, there is defanetly a technique to it. I think boys are the worst as they always seem to pee as soon as they feel fresh air. Just watch your eyes

just keep a cloth handy and put it over their exposed parts when you nip the dirty nappy off.

i've had to take evasive action once from a squirty poo launched at warp speed. didn't know i could move so quickly.
