Crib or Moses basket? 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi chaps, first time dad here (well, in December I will be anyway!)

The wife and I have been offered the free use of a Moses basket and a crib by friends and relatives. We're not sure which one would be best for Baby though!

I've heard that the rocking motion of a crib is very soothing and helps baby go to sleep but we've also got the option of a normal Moses basket.

What do you folks suggest/have experience with?

Hi sibod,

We had a moses basket on a stand in our room for the first 6 months it didnt move though.

Not sure about the rocking motion, might be making a rod for your own back if you are away somewhere and dont have access to the crib.

anyway I dont have any experience of a moving one so just my opinion.

Get a moses basket. Easy to move about with. You will start with this I suspect at the beginning. Nice and secure. I wouldn't bother with the crib. Save the money and when they are a bit bigger, 4+ months etc get a baby bouncer. You will then be able to use your feet to "bounce" the baby when you are at the dinner table etc. A god send.
Good luck to you.

I would say moses basket. But go for the cheapest of the two if you can get a good deal. They grow out of it so fast!! Good luck.

One of the guys I know used the bottom draw of the chest of draws.

Aparently it was his parents had done with him, so he thought why not......its the perfect size for a new born and cost him nothing.

P.S. im not sugesting everbody uses the bottom draw, im sure that there are some kind of health and safety issues and I dont want to get in trouble for sugesting it
