Hi mate,
We had a very similar problem, compounded by a lengthy stay in hospital before coming home. The above suggestions are good except for the calpol - why medicate a baby for no reason? He is not in pain and does not have a fever and that is what paracetamol is for.
Have you considered a dream feed? This is when your baby is asleep but still gets a feed because his suckling/rooting reflex is still active. My wife expresses a bottle for each night which I make sure is nice and warm - then I feed him in his sleep which means that you dont lose sleep while he has to dose off...
A spare room is great for when one of you is exhausted - I've just gotten our boy to sleep after his morning breast feed and my wife is now asleep in the spare room in case he wakes up. If you are both up all of the time you will both just get very tense which your baby will react to by crying!
Try to set up cues for the baby so they know it is bed time and get into a routine - they slep better that way
If all else fails - ear plugs
Hope this helps.
