Ye Gads Review:

A clever concept. We reviewed 2 CDs over a 3 month period. The CD's contain a series of nursery rhymes in English/French or English/Spanish depending on the CD.

The format is that they first sing a line or verse in English and then in the second language. Each CD also contains a sheet with the words in English and then along side the relevant translation as it appears on the CD.

If you like nursery rhymes and want your children to get an idea of another language then we think this is a fun place to start the learning process. We found that the children we played these to loved them. Adults tend to get hung up on I can't speak another language or its difficult but children don't care. They think its a game and the more time you spend with them the better. The 4 children ranged from 4 months to 3 years old the middle child being about 18 months and the 3 year olds were soon singing the names of the animals in Old Macdonald in both French and Spanish.

You do need to take the time to read through the included wordsr. Not that they can read them at that age but so you get it right then they really seem to pick it up. Many of the tunes are familiar to them so they love it.

We think the parent really needs to spend time with them to bring them on and explain the words but it is well worth it.

We give this a 4 out of 5. It is a good product and would have got a 5 but we felt that it does launch straight into things and it is sung at normal pace straight away. We think you need to take it in stages and repeat the songs many times. Its a first because as someone in their thirties I thought I would never be shouting out twinkle twinkle little star whilst driving through the Blackwall tunnel!! Bon chance.
