In theory only 3 weeks to go now until baby no.2. It's only just over 2 years since the first yet for some reason I can't quite remember what a new born is like or quite the impact (s)he will have. My blogg sets out to engage with both new and seasoned fathers, following my journey over the coming months as my second child is unleashed into the world.
I have trawled through the NHS book and photos of baby no.1 (sounding a bit like Dr Evil there), but still filled with more than a little trepidation.
We have the 'bag' packed, ensuring I have nappies this time rather than 'little swimmers' as I did last. It is already in the car as I would obviously forget it in the panic of waters breaking, most likely when England are beating Australia by 5 points at Twickenham with 5 mins to go. The attic has been raided for cribs, clothes, bottles and sterilising kits whilst toys r us have taken even more of our money in the form of a 'double buggy'. Yet the one thing concerning me above all is how no.1 will react.
He is active to say the least and is not backward in coming forward, recently having been put in the 'naughty corner' on more than one occassion at nursery for pushing and general boistorous behaviour. He is not even top of my xmas list either having looked up at me getting changed last week, pointing and showing off his new found vocabulary saying 'daddies boobies'. But it will be difficult for him I am sure as attention is naturally not all on him. Lets hope the kissing of the bump does not turn in to the hitting of the little baby!
But that is a new challenge to come, for the time being I am just hoping that mummy safely produces a fit and healthy newborn that arrives in a reasonably swift and uncomplicated manner at a time not too inconvenient!!
